Biafra (1967-1970) declares independence from Nigeria, and is blockaded leading to massive starvation.

Earth Day is celebrated for the first time.

A military coup overthrows the government of Greece.

Sesame Street is first broadcast.

South Yemen independent from UK.

American Samoa adopts a new constitution, and becomes self-governing.
